Aitor 'Spenser' Canup, Head Instructor
Aitor
Canup has been training in the martial arts
for over 15 years. Aitor trained in
various forms of martial arts growing up until
he found two styles that he thought fit into the
aspect of what he thought were true
self-defense/offense style types of martial
arts. But inside those 2 styles they both had
holes. One was a stand up martial art called
Muay Thai the other was a ground based martial
art Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, but as he continued to
train he found that the two meshed very well
with each other when combined.
He has trained exclusively his whole Mixed
Martial Arts career under the tutelage of Greg
Thompson, Jason Culbreth, and Royce Gracie with
whom he has achieved the rank of Brown Belt.
Aitor has fought in various Mixed Martial Arts
events throughout the United States as well as
trained some of the top fighters out of North
Carolina to compete in MMA events.
Through his training, he was fortunate enough
to be able to work with several Law Enforcement
branches who saw the potential of this type of
training and pulled him in to do some of their
Defensive Tactics for them.
Aitor has also
worked extensively for the past 5 yrs with the
US ARMY Special Forces teaching combatives to
our soldiers. Aitor is also certified to teach
Level I and Level II Modern Army Combatives.
Aitor also saw through his training a need for a
practical workout that would replicate what
really went on in a fight.
Through his research
he ran across a system called
CROSSFIT and was
sold. Aitor has been training in CROSSFIT the
past 3yrs and is sold on it as the answer to
everyone's workout needs. So after drinking the
water of CROSSFIT he went out and got certified
in CROSSFIT. Aitor also offers individual and
group instruction. Group instruction can be
tailored to the class from one to five days.
Aitor is also available to travel if needed.
